Molex is seeking a senior level Sourcing and Procurement professional to lead our New Product Development and Division sourcing capability for the Transportation Innovative Solutions Division (TIS) headquartered in Rochester Hills, MI, with factories and design centers in the US, Mexico, Japan, Poland, Italy, Germany, and China. This role reports to the Chief Procurement Officer and manages a total team of approx. 70+ New Product Development Sourcing Engineers and Sourcing Professionals responsible for Direct material and Indirect spend.
A key factor of success will be your ability to build strong relationships with the relevant business stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and supporting strategies.
As a leader of New Product Development Sourcing, you will manage the sourcing process for all new products. This includes working closely with the relevant business stakeholders, focusing on driving key business factors that help win new business as well as manage the quoting and sourcing requirements for new raw materials, components, and services for the TIS Division. The objective is to launch new products with a focus on design for architectural cost, design for procurement, design for supply chain and design for time to market.
As a leader of the Division Sourcing function, you will be responsible for applying the appropriate category strategies in close collaboration with the global Direct and Indirect category leaders, identifying and contracting with suppliers for assigned categories and managing continuous improvement activities to improve total cost, quality, delivery and supplier technology support.
What You Will Do
- Member of the TIS Leadership team.
- Build a strong team with the skills and experiences needed to support our business objectives.
- Partner with Design Teams throughout the Product Development process to manage total costs through product launch.
- New supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting for the TIS Division.
- Bring Design to Value (Manufacturing, Quality, Cost, etc.) viewpoint to Product design team.
- Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decisions.
- Ensure compliance to Policies and Procedures supporting internal and external audits.
- Negotiate contracts and legal terms under the guidance of the internal legal support team.
- Improve New Product Sourcing processes and increase efficiencies by collaborating with technical design teams.
- Apply appropriate category strategies (Mechanical, Electronics, and Indirect) to new product sourcing needs.
- Build supplier relationships with critical suppliers.
- Utilize proactive supply risk management approach during the new product development process to support flawless launch.
- Monitor sourcing and procurement innovation trends in the marketplace.
- Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive accountability.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization as well as deliver oral presentations on moderately complex subject matter.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross functional collaboration across business units and geographies.
- Ability to quickly grasp key business drivers, align team goals, and drive necessary change.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10 or more years’ leadership/management experience in the procurement function focused on direct spend
o 5+ year of Global Supervisor experience
o 5+ years of direct material (Mechanical and Electronics categories)
o 5+ years’ experience in New Product Development Sourcing
- Business level fluency in English
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Ability to be available for conference calls beyond core business hours
What Will Put You Ahead
- Master’s Degree
- Previous background in Engineering, Finance, Project Management and/or Business Management
- Automotive industry experience- tier 1 automotive preferred
