The Market Insights Director will drive the creation and application of should cost models across all prioritized categories, as well as own holistic insights generation for specific categories. The Strategy & Market Insights team was recently formed within SS&P. The various parts of this team (Market Insights, Finance, and RFP/Price Management) will work together to provide economic thinking, analytics, and insights to inform priorities and decisions. In particular, the Market Insights team is responsible for building deep knowledge (e.g. supply/demand drivers, price POVs, market/industry POVs, should cost modeling) of key categories and partnering with the Category Management team to build strategies and action plans.
This role is based in downtown Atlanta GP Center where we are embracing a hybrid work schedule.
Our Team
Georgia-Pacific’s Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (“SS&P”) organization is responsible for strategic category management, sourcing and procurement of critical materials & services that support more than 140 locations across the US. The SS&P organization is currently undergoing an exciting transformation with our business partners, building new capabilities that will help identify and capture significant opportunities across pricing, total cost of ownership, and sourcing execution. This effort is a critical element in Georgia-Pacific’s continuous transformation. What You Will Do
Should Cost Modeling Across All Prioritized Categories
- Coordinate with Category Management Leaders on when & how to best apply insights from should cost models to maximize value creation with suppliers.
- Assess current should cost models based on best practices. Identify where it would create value to improve existing models and/or build new models.
- Partner with other members of the Market Insights team to understand key cost drivers, category dynamics, and the relevant price setting mechanism. Define the profitable level of detail to model and drive the creation/evolution of models.
- Identify opportunities to work with third parties to collect key information and to accelerate creation of should cost models. Manage relationships to optimize return on investment.
- Build and execute a sustainable and scalable vision for maintenance of should cost models, enabling timely visibility to cost changes as market conditions shift.
Holistic Insights Generation for Specific Categories
- Coordinate with Category Management Leaders to assess current knowledge base and align on where it would create value to close knowledge gaps.
- Where profitable, build deep understanding of supply / demand drivers and dynamics.
- Monitor industry publications for material impact to key drivers and incorporate into market/industry POVs.
- Work with category leaders and cross functional teams to build category strategy and identify & evaluate initiatives. Work with team to clearly communicate the approach to executives and build alignment with commercial & operations priorities.
- Propose and support categories going through an accelerated “sprint” to value.
