Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Prototype CNC Programmer & Machinist to join the Prototyping Team at the Technical Center located in Neenah, WI. The Prototype CNC Programmer & Machinist will have Programming, Setup and CNC Machinist responsibilities, working directly with a variety of teams within Consumer Products as well as the broader family of Koch Companies. There will be projects and requests coming from various stages within the product development life cycle for challenge and variety. Your primary role will be taking ownership of the manual and CNC machining capabilities within the team and providing that service to our Georgia Pacific and Koch customers. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to other prototyping projects that come through our lab.
This role is a single shift position, offering a flexible work environment.
Relocation will be offered to candidates that need to relocate.
Our Team
We are a full-service model shop that provides additive (3D printing) and subtractive (CNC machining) services along with other traditional model making services to our customers throughout the Koch businesses. Our focus is on providing quick turnaround physical solutions leveraging the wide range of capabilities within our shop. The vast majority of our projects last only a few days and are based on our customers R&D type initiatives which keeps things fresh and exciting.
What You Will Do
- Work directly with customers to understand what challenges they are facing to best determine how machining can be a solution for their request
- Schedule projects based on customer delivery dates and workload on the machines
- Ordering in materials, tooling and consumables from various vendors based on project and equipment needs
- Program, setup and operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate a wide variety of components of varying complexity for prototypes, fixtures, equipment, etc.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe shop environment
- Safely use a variety of shop equipment such as table saws, bandsaws, lathes, drill presses and hand tools
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience operating 3 and 4 axis vertical machining centers as well as manual lathes
- Skills programing parts in a CAM software from simple 2D programs to parts requiring very complex 3D surfacing
- Experience working with 3D CAD data as well as the occasional 2D CAD for incoming requests
- Experience in various methods of work holding and fixturing to enable safe machining of parts of various sizes and shapes
- CAD skills to enable you to modify parts, create custom fixtures, convey improvements or ideas you may have for a customer’s problem
- Familiarity with machining various mediums such as plastics, aluminum, steel, etc.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience using SolidWorks for CAD design
- Familiarity with Haas machines
- Experience in operating 3D printing equipment (FDM, SLA, Polyjet, etc.)
- Experience in plastic part design for injection molding and blow molding
