The Molex Reliability Lab is seeking a talented Electrical Test Engineer to join our team in Lisle, IL and support our globally diverse, multi-functional, Engineering teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for hands on electrical and environmental testing, troubleshooting, data analysis, root cause failure analysis, and evaluation of various interconnect solutions throughout the product development cycle for the different business units throughout Molex.
What You Will Do In Your Role
· Read and challenge test plans to evaluate performance and reliability of electronic components, connector solutions, and materials under exposure to electrical and environmental conditions
· Execute test plans and tasks involving various electrical and environmental tests in accordance with industry, customer, and/or internal specification
· Audit and train lab staff on ESD knowledge and ESD protection
· Perform various electrical/environmental tests including, but not limited to:
- Low Level Contact Resistance
- Voltage Drop
- Temperature Rise / Current Rating
- Insulation Resistance / Dielectric Withstanding Voltage
- USB Charger Module Functional Testing
- Thermal Age, Humidity, Thermal Shock, & Thermal Cycling
- Dust & Water Ingress
- Salt Fog & mixed flowing gas corrosion testing
· Complete product evaluation and performance analysis using test results and advanced statistical analysis.
· Develop, modify, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure repeatable and reproducible test methods/results.
· Troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology
· 3+ years’ work experience in a laboratory environment for related field
· Proficient with general electrical test equipment (i.e. oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, data acquisition systems, etc.)
· Experience with environmental chamber testing
· Possess critical thinking and analytical ability to develop conclusions from complex data
including multiple interactions
What Will Put You Ahead
· Experience with dust and water ingress testing
· Work experience in automotive industry validation laboratory environment
· Knowledge of contact physics
· Knowledge and test experience with electronic solutions (i.e. USB charger modules, wireless power modules, solid state relays, etc.)
· Understanding of signal integrity testing and associated equipment (i.e. vector network analyzer (VNA), time domain reflectometer (TDR), etc.)
· Experience testing electrical interconnect systems, including data analysis, and troubleshooting to aid in root cause failure analysis
