A TSBU MIE is the technical lead for all manufacturing process disciplines and serves as the liaison to the core PDT and is responsible for the overall manufacturing concept development. This involves leading the technical efforts with the mold, die tooling & plating groups, automation groups and plant process engineers to assure effective “design for manufacturing” and that the technical goals of the program are achieved. MIE is the constant contact with the product engineers, product managers also often in direct contact with customers to ensure the customer understands the process and help in support of Product managers and product engineers to assure Molex manufacturing understands the customers’ expectations.
The MIE has many responsibilities, but the foundation is to assure all technical resources have the information they need to perform strong feasibility reviews and provide quote inputs, develop competitive manufacturing solutions that customers preferred and deliver excellent processes to our organization.
What You Will Do
· Provide coordination and leadership for the technical resources, assuring they hear what is needed and have a voice back to the product development team, engineering and the customer.
· Responsible for leading the technical team through feasibilities and building the manufacturing quote summary based on inputs from the technical teams.
· Partner with Product Managers, product engineering, procurement, quality, and to strengthen the technical success opportunities and competitive manufacturing solutions.
· Be an advocate for both the design and manufacturing groups. Facilitate strong compromise and success for all.
· Prepare phase reviews and be the face and voice of the technical team members by presenting to the management team, having humility and open to challenges and feedbacks.
· Lead the technical resources in investigations, discovery and solving of manufacturing problems.
· May require some global travel to codevelop product designs and discover process improvement opportunities.
· Perform other related duties as needed.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
· Bachelor’s degree in science engineering or equivalent, and above.
· Experience around molding/pFMEA/Lean/Six sigma is a plus.
· Background in Automotive industry is preferred.
· 5 years+ experiences in NPI about manufacturing process/tooling development, e.g., molding, insert molding, automation, stamping, plating, SMT, etc. or direct exposure to product engineering development or quality planning improvement.
· Strong integrity and virtues with the strength to face difficult situations with transparency and a sense of urgency.
· Strong problem-solving capabilities and leadership whole providing your technical teams with the necessary information and lead them through the process for a long-term solution.
· Effective interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
· Good decision-making ability even if not the expert. Use fact-based information to drive these decisions.
What Will Put You Ahead
· Knowledge on Molding manufacturing/PFMEA/Lean/Six sigma is a plus.
· Knowledge on automotive industry is a plus.
