DarkVision, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a UX Designer for a 1-year fixed term position. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work across our product lines and tech-stack to develop and maintain our internal analysis software and our external-facing client deliverables. This role will collaborate heavily with the software engineering, product management, and data analysis groups to design extremely intuitive software tools that streamline our data analysis and provide our clients with actionable feedback.

This is an in-office role based out of DarkVision’s head office in North Vancouver, BC, and reports to our Product Team Lead.

What You Will Do
Improve and manage existing software products:
- Work closely with the downhole product team to improve the UX of our existing software products.
- Create effective design solutions that will improve product usability and reduce analysis timelines and pain points.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the Product Management, Software Engineering, Data, Field Operations, Sales, and Machine Learning teams to take new features from ideation to prototyping, to user testing, and launch.
Design new software products:
- We are rapidly expanding our industrial inspection services into new market verticals. These product developments require significant software systems and bring significant opportunities for career growth.
- Work cross-functionally to design effective user flows that allow product users to accomplish their goals seamlessly.
- Create user-centered experiences, lead product discovery sessions, and create wireframes and prototypes for our new software products.
Design customer-facing deliverables:
- We deliver highly differentiated industrial inspection datasets, visualizations, and reports as our final product to Oil and Gas companies worldwide. We have a high bar for quality, impact, and consistency.
- Improve the look, feel, and experience of our existing customer deliverables and support the design of new customer deliverables, fostering consistency across our brand and products.
UX research:
- Identify product pain points and usability issues by using various UX research techniques like interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
- Use research findings to guide product design and lead usability testing.
- Help identify the underlying assumptions and validate or challenge them based your research,
- Conduct foundational research to guide the direction of our new software products.
Design system:
- Establish DarkVision’s design system that will ensure consistency across our products.
- Evangelize user-centered design principles and best practices by giving presentations and workshops.
- Help the Software team put users front and center when developing useful and usable software.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Willing to accept a 1-year fixed term employment arrangement.
- 3+ years of experience in UX design.
- Experience designing UX for complex SW used by technical users.
- Expertise in Figma and/or Adobe Design Suite.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in UX design of data capture and/or analysis software (e.g. mapping/GIS, FEA, video editing).
