Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products Group is seeking qualified professionals to be considered for our Automation Engineer role to support the manufacturing teams at our new Dixie Products Operations Plant located in Jackson, TN. The Jackson Plant will be part of the Dixie brand plates and bowls paper products manufacturing operation. This role will be key in developing and transforming others to innovate and improve results, be contribution motivated and quality focused while maintaining a high standard of safety.
The Automation Engineer will primarily work with the facility’s automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) that support material movement throughout the facility. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for interacting with plant operations, corporate capabilities, and other engineering disciplines to develop a sustainable deployment of the fleet to deliver long term value and advance the business to best in industry standards.

What You Will Do
- Support an environment where the team identifies and mitigates safety risks especially as it relates to AGV interactions.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with resources in operations, corporate automation group, and various other capabilities.
- Provide technical expertise in process automation and transfer that knowledge to others (operations and reliability).
- Lead the development and execution of reliability and asset strategies including time based, condition based, operating envelope, and spare parts for responsible equipment.
- Utilize tools and data to locate optimization opportunities in the automated system.
- Effectively apply the site’s AGV issue resolution escalation process.
- Work with OEM to support long term optimization of the system.
- Facilitate ownership-based work system strategies by building capability of technicians to operate and maintain automation equipment.
- Lead the effort to understand equipment and process losses to improve productivity of the AGVs and supporting equipment.
- Support commercialization efforts by proactively bringing forward impacts to AGVs.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or military operations environment
- Experience working with automation technology
What Will Put You Ahead
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or a degree/certification with an electrical or mechanical technology focus
- Experience with maintenance and operation of Automated Guided Vehicles
- Experience with PLC programming
