Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Production Manager to join our Alabama River Cellulose facility located in Perdue Hill, AL. This position will lead operations through process monitoring and optimization (local and remote), leveraging advanced process controls, and by working with and through others to deliver optimal performance to create and sustain a stable, capable, and predictable process.
Our Team
Since 1978, the Alabama River Cellulose (ARC) mill has been a major part of the economic lifeblood of the region. Recognized as one of the largest pulp operations in North America, the mill is also considered the largest manufacturer in Monroe County and one of the largest employers in the area.
What You Will Do
- Provide leadership to facilitate development of knowledge and skills of self and employees to improve operational performance.
- Lead on shift analysis to ensure gaps are identified and corrected while they are small and before they impact mill performance.
- Collaborate effectively with the Daily Operating Center and remote monitoring & diagnostics capabilities to solve process issues.
- Continuously evaluate and identify constraints to eliminate quality and production bottlenecks and lead plans to improve current capability, and yield to improve our relative competitive position
- Work to continuously identify and eliminate waste and non-value-added costs in direct and indirect costs to improve the mill’s relative competitive position
- Collaborate and coordinate with area leadership to resolve operational and reliability issues and ensure area and annual mill outages are coordinated to create the most value
- Troubleshooting, problem solving and utilizing constructive challenge to drive to the optimum solution.
- Focus on safely improving productivity and reducing costs through process/equipment
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environment.
- Supervisory/leadership experience.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Pulp and paper industry experience
- Experience with advanced process control systems (DCS, process modeling, process control)
- Experience analyzing and interpreting operating data to determine business impact
