Georgia-Pacific’s Discrete Manufacturing Engineering Group is seeking qualified professionals for our Process Control Engineering opportunity
Overview
The PCE provides technical expertise and project engineering as required to support the Discrete Manufacturing Groups capital execution plan and operations. The position will be responsible for the Process Control Project development, design, procurement, construction and start-up of various projects within the Discrete Manufacturing Group. There are approx. 75 Discrete facilities across the US. The position requires up to 50% travel to various facilities and the ability to manage multiple projects. This engineer will have a direct impact on safety, reliability, cost reduction, and process improvement at our facilities.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide Process Control Leadership to the DMG Electrical Group
- Adapt to and improve the Process Control Solutions of our Operating Groups
- Develop standards to streamline the timeline from concept to start-up
- Provide secure and reliable Process Control Systems
- Provide construction support
- Lead start up efforts
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- BSEE or BSEET
- Four (4) or more years of Process Control experience as a Design, Project or Process Control Engineer in a manufacturing facility and/or as a consultant / systems integrator.
- Two (2) or more years of independent design / programming experience for an industrial facility.
- Experience with PLCs – to include specifications, wiring design, panel layout, programming and commissioning.
- Experience with VFDs – to include wiring design, programming and commissioning and knowledge of special considerations for grounding, filtering and cabling.
- Ability with AutoCAD – be able to generate Schematics, Interconnection drawings and block diagrams from standards
- Proficiency with Excel – must be able to develop basic spreadsheets with Engineering formulas.
- Proficiency with Word – must be able to generate reports, letters, memos, etc.
- Working knowledge in identifying and applying NEC requirements that affect Control Systems of Industrial Installations.
- Areas of Control Proficiency: Working knowledge with Rockwell PowerFlex 750 series VFDs, Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix and PLC5 as well as the various distributed IO platforms – Flex I/O, Point I/O, Flex5000), Rockwell HMIs, ethernet communications, and Rockwell E300s for motor controls.
- Areas of Electrical Knowledge: Instrumentation and Controls Systems, PLCs, Networks – Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet
- Willingness to travel up to 50%. This will vary widely throughout the project but require the Engineer to be on site during the start-up.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Forest Products Industry Manufacturing experience
- Estimating Engineering Costs and Schedules – ability to take a Project Scope and develop a list Engineering Deliverables and the manhours to develop along with a schedule to develop.
- Estimating Construction Costs – ability to take Project Scope Documents and develop cost for Electrical Equipment, Electrical Materials and Electrical Labor Costs
- Scheduling and Monitoring of Engineering and Construction activities
- Bid Package Preparation – ability to generate and assemble specifications, drawings, standards and compliance documents required for Construction Project Bidding
- Networking design and troubleshooting to include ethernet and fiber networks.
Other requirements
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders up to 100 feet
- Ability to wear PPE in designated areas
- Ability to occasionally respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis
