Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Finishing Technician at our Plywood facility in Gurdon, Arkansas. This role will have responsibility for operating and maintaining the automated equipment in the Finishing and Shipping department at the site.

What You Will Do
- Lead the finishing department maintenance efforts by developing and implementing maintenance strategies to achieve and exceed machine uptime and productivity
- Be responsible for scheduling maintenance work on down days and shutdowns, ordering parts, working with suppliers, identifying critical spare parts needs, and verifying these parts are on hand for all finishing assets
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in safety program
- Communicate to the department manager and supervisors on any maintenance issues as they arise
- Lead a preventative maintenance program to correct mechanical/electrical problems before machine fails
- Inspect equipment and communicate with operations to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
- Utilize mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication) to maximize machine capabilities, identify root cause failures, and apply long term solutions
- Be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule and work on-call/call-in hours for maintenance issues and overtime/nights and weekends as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a two (2) year technical trade school or at least three (3) years of manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) products
- Experience working with conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings and pumps, lubrication
What Will Put You Ahead
- Associate’s Degree in technical fields such as electrical, mechanical, or similar trades
- Any four (4) year engineering degree in related fields
- Experience with CMMS computer-based maintenance reporting system
- Experience with basic project planning, parts acquisition, and field execution
- Experience in planning and performing mechanical work on pumps, gears, bearings, fabrication, and industrial maintenance
