We continue to grow our Engineering Staff and are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer interested in our Vehicle Sensing Solutions Group. If you are looking for a way to accelerate your career and be part of a great company, this may be the opportunity for you.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on our automotive electronics solutions that solve problems for next-generation vehicles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and Analyze Sensors for various applications (Radar Enclosures, Road Noise Sensors, etc.)
- Develops documentation of the project scope, requirements, feasibility, & engineering workplan. Works directly with product engineering to capture needs and translates into an executable project.
- Lead concept development activities with some guidance from engineering manager. Expected to provide technologies that are manufacturable, cost effective, & meet product engineering requirements.
- Develops & communicates mitigation plan for areas of risk.
- Plans and leads DFMEA, FEAs, Tolerance Analysis and other theoretical studies. Leads prediction correlation efforts and understands the associated physics (may require expertise/development in observation tools)
- Creates feature models & drawings using GD&T methodology (Datum selection, dimensioning and tolerancing aligned with function).
· Knowledgeable in material mechanics (plastics & metals), manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, plating), & engineering processes/tools (as defined in responsibilities)
- Prepares and follows engineering change requests (ECR) per document control procedures.
- Execute design reviews, risk analyses and Project Documentation
- Contribute to Production Assembly and Test Environment
- Work with a cross functional team in quoting new opportunities
- Assist in Benchmarking other Sensors and Key Components
· Communicate with Customers (OEMs) on the application of these sensors
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Proven expertise in Mechanical Design concepts
- Understanding of Simulation Tools (ex. Ansys, Sherlock, etc.)
- Good knowledge of automotive development processes including V-Model, ASPICE and agile methods
- Experience in the development of Automotive systems
- Strong networking and confident communication skills
- Ability to cultivate relationships with eco-system partners
- Goal oriented, structured, diligent and independent work ethic
- Required Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree
- 5+ years product design experience
Preferred Education & Work Experience
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree
- 8+ years automotive product design experience
- Knowledge in Automotive Sensors
