Manufacturing Engineer - Entry Level
Georgia-Pacific's Dixie® Continuous Manufacturing Group is seeking a motivated and skilled individual with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering to join our team as an Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in manufacturing engineering and contribute to the success of our Lexington, KY manufacturing operation!
Our Team
The Lexington facility uses state of the art technology to manufacture Dixie® cups and lids in a progressive production environment. Dixie® is a brand of choice and is widely used in homes and businesses across the country! The ideal candidate for this role will possess the ability to challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement; collaborate across roles and diverse groups, gather and share feedback; stay current in best practices and focus on safely improving productivity, reducing costs through process/equipment optimization and operator knowledge/skill improvements.
What You Will Do
- Assist in increasing the effectiveness of the cup converting group by improving reliability, work processes, equipment performance, and team member capabilities.
- Support maintenance activities by developing, implementing, and monitoring asset strategies for production equipment.
- Identify and address improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes and equipment, including risk reduction, quality improvement, waste reduction, and productivity enhancement.
- Assist in conducting Root Cause Analysis of manufacturing processes and equipment issues.
- Participate in raw materials trials to evaluate performance and cost improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to plant streamlining and optimization efforts and assist in standardizing work procedures.
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers to support equipment modification, installation, and start-up activities.
- Assist in preparing project justifications and benefits analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to specify modifications to process equipment.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other 2D/3D CAD programs, such as Solidworks.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in reading and writing logic programming.
- Mechanical experience inside or outside of a work setting.
- Exposure to equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability practices.
