What You Will Do
We offer an opportunity to launch your engineering career with us will focus on the future. Interns at Koch/DECPOM will learn about our unique Principle-Based Management culture, partner with interns from other disciplines on case studies, and participate in solving problems on the construction of our utility-scale solar PV power plants.
Our Summer internship program offers these Engineering specialties and locations below:
Electrical Engineering Intern
- Location: Bedminster, NJ
- Solar Projects, Energy Storage Projects, and Repowering Projects/Services.
- Learn how to prepare electrical drawings, electrical equipment specifications and electrical studies and calculations (Short-Circuit, Load Flow, Grounding, Protective Device Coordination and Ampacity calculation).
- Earning an Electrical Engineering degree required.
Project Development Engineer
- Location: Bedminster, NJ
- Support the business development team in engineering custom and creative solutions for utility-scale PV solar plants nationwide.
- Partner with construction teams during construction to help modify and engineer updated drawings for the site to use.
- Earning a Mechanical or Civil engineering degree is required.
Civil Engineer Intern
- Location: Pleasanton, CA
- Support design for utility-scale solar PV power plants civil and site preparation design nationwide.
- Gain experience in viewing grading and drainage plans, drainage studies, ALTA/topo and other survey documents, and geotechnical reports to make recommendations for project site preparation design and identify schedule and cost constraints.
- Earning a Civil or Structural engineering degree is required.
Estimating Engineer Intern
- Location: Scottsdale, AZ
- Work closely with business development and the bidding team to complete bid packages for new projects.
- Review detailed engineering drawings and use internal and external sources to develop creative solutions for a competitive bid.
- Earning a Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Science, Construction Management or Civil engineering degree required.
Field Engineer Intern
- Location: This position requires relocating near the construction job site for the duration of the project reporting onsite as a Field Engineer supporting construction of 50-200+MW Utility-Scale Solar PV Plants. This position includes a daily per diem to help cover living expenses, transportation, and food. The candidate can live anywhere in the U.S. but must be able to travel to their assigned project for the duration of the internship.
- Assist in solving engineering problems that occur on the construction site across multiple disciplines – civil, structural, electrical and mechanical.
- Assist with the coordination of inspections and facilitate discussions with local, county, and state Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Compose and maintain Requests for Information (RFIs) between construction teams, engineers, vendors, and long-term project owners.
- Earning a Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, Environmental, Construction Science, Construction Management or Chemical engineering degree required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Requirements:
- To be enrolled in an engineering degree program and eligible for full-time employment on or before May 2025.
- Able to work in the US without sponsorship.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Exposure or experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings in AutoCAD.
- Engineering experience in the Renewables or Oil & Energy Fields.
- Experience in renewable energy coursework.
