Your Job
- Create FPC design including design proposals of geometry and layout and pin out and schematic to meet customer requirements.
- Lead and participate in design and development activities from concept to introduction of new/improved FPC design to the project team and customer.
- Visit Customers, ODMs, and CMs (as required) to support product and process introductions
- Provide innovative FPC design support for product improvement, cost reductions, FPC material selection, manufacturing process improvements, validation, and other technical support activities.
- Execute layout design per IPC, IEC,ISO etc.
What You Will Do
Product Proposal Phase
- Review customer requirements.
- Provide preliminary FPC design and lead the geometry(3D) or layout design feasibility review.
- Provide cost analysis result and cost reduction proposal.
- Interact with sourcing and supplier for preliminary design feasibility
- Benchmark competitors’ designs.
- Generate design proposals in the form of CAD, schematic, layout, NX, AD, PADS, ALLEGRO or the like.
- Review and determine feasibility of geometry and layout and pinout design proposal.
- Request patent opinion from Legal.
- Check design against Marketing and/or Customer requirements.
- Present design proposal(s) to Sales, Marketing and/or Customers.
Product Design Phase
- Establish design & development plan.
- Create project file.
- Review additional inputs and/or changes in customer requirements.
- Request patent opinion from Legal (if not done in the prior phase).
- Create 3D design concept and layout and pinout and schematic design and release related design files, and other design specifications such as 3D/2D and layout design, material BOM.
- Perform design verification activities per FPC design & development plan.
- Conduct design FMEA.
- Conduct design reviews to determine feasibility of design and design for manufacturability.
- Confirm design meets Marketing and/or Customer requirements.
- Release final design specifications for tooling and process design & development.
- Establish product reliability/screen test plans with Reliability.
- Review and update design & development plan.
Product / Process Development Phase
- Maintain FPC design files and other design output documents; distribute changes per ECR/ECN procedures as required.
- Disposition first article inspection reports.
- Approve or disapprove product deviation requests.
- Submit product for reliability/screen tests.
- Submit product for agency approvals (UL, CSA, VDE, TUV).
- Review and update design FMEA.
- Review reliability/screen test results for conformance to product specifications and take action to resolve issues, if any.
- Review engineering verification samples, documents, and test reports for customer approval.
- Review product performance status and seek customer’s approval
- Update design & development plan.
Production Phase
- Provide FPC design and pinout and schematic design supports for product improvements and/or extensions.
- Provide design supports for manufacturing process improvements.
- Approve or disapprove product deviation requests.
- Participate in cost reduction activities.
- Respond to customer complaints on design-related issues.
- Maintain and safe-keep project file.
- Apply lessons learnt on new and/or improved designs.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide consultations to Sales and/or Marketing on design-related matters.
- Assist Purchasing in new products/vendors qualification and cost reduction.
- Support Quality Department in handling quality claims.
- Support Operations in manufacturing process improvements.
- Provide training for other Product Design engineering personnel or any others as assigned.
- Assist or lead department support and focal point activities when required.
- Respond to any other Engineering Work Requests as required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Junior college or above in electrical, electronic, mechanical, electromechanical engineering, automotive engineering or a comparable degree program
- FPC geometry, layout, schematic design on battery module battery pack or CCS(Cell Contacting System) or automotive or commercial product. Minimum 3+ years in FPC design and development in related industry. Familiar with IPC, IEC, ISO and other FPC industry standard. Knowledge of FPC or PCB engineering materials and manufacturing process for most efficient and cost-effective design. Cost awareness and good experience on cost reduction

What Will Put You Ahead
- PhD or Master’s degree in related education/experience
- FPC design, layout and schematic design on EV & Energy Storage System Battery Pack and module or BMS/CCS
- Familiar with fundamental in battery pack engineering for automotive or energy storage application • Familiar with FPC design, layout and schematic design on Batteries and battery systems used in electric vehicles (prismatic, cylindrical, soft pouch etc.)
- Understanding of electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics of cells, modules, and packs (cell module unit, BMS integration)
- Understanding of Mechanical structural design. • Electrical system integration (e.g., cell module unit, cell supervisory circuitry)
- Proficiency in electrical simulation, like thermal and resistance analysis
- Proficiency in industry standard, like IPC,IEC,ISO and other FPC industry standard.
- Ability to travel both internationally and domestically
