Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Safety professional to join out plywood mill in Gurdon, AR. This role will be responsible for providing safety leadership to the mill and ensure systems effectively address the mill’s safety and health (S&H) risks, help develop and/or align the S&H strategy according to the mill’s S&H plan and assist with facilitating safety ownership of all employees. This position is an overnight shift and will report to the mill’s Safety Manager.

What You Will Do
- Assist in the development and implementation of core Safety and Health programs. The core elements include but are not limited to LOTO, Safe Work Permitting, Confined Space, Hearing Conservation, Workers Compensation, Industrial Hygiene, Recordkeeping, Incident Investigation, and Emergency Preparedness.
- Assist in the management, development, and sustainability of the site Security Program.
- Demonstrate compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and GP safety and health compliance standards.
- Strive to create value for the mill through effective implementation of GP safety and health requirements.
- Understand the mill’s safety and health vision and take action to help achieve the vision.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and lead by example.
- Identify risks and develop measures to mitigate risks within the mill.
- Development and execution of S&H-related initiatives and look for improvement opportunities.
- Assist in developing and conducting safety and health training for mill personnel in an effective manner.
- Seek feedback/input from others to better understand and make improvements to S&H initiatives.
- Must work overnight shift.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment in a safety role
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering
- Industrial Hygiene and emergency medical training
- GP ELP Program experience
- Safety certifications (i.e.: ASP, GSP, or CSP)
