As Product Development Manager you will be responsible for Structuring, Managing and Developing the businesses design engineering resources and processes to deliver leading, innovative product designs suitable for mass production.
Our Team
As part of the Strategic Development group you will be part of a team charged with creating and delivering on the company's product roadmap and with the ongoing management of product lifecycle. With direct responsibility for new product development you will manage a small global team of engineers and provide innovative, cost efficient and validated product designs and subsequently provide resources in a cross functional NPI team to bring those designs into production. Your team will also manage sustaining engineering in support of product lifecycle.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain an engineering organization with a range and mix of capabilities required to deliver on the Company’s current and future product development needs. This will require:
- Continual collaboration with product management on future technology needs and how and when this will feed into the product roadmap.
- Developing and managing budgets required to sustain any program identified.
- Build engaged teams by hiring, coaching and promoting accountability through a focused application of the Company’s Principle Based Management (PBM) program’s philosophy framework, tools and mental models.
- Manage and optimize your global resources and processes necessary to deliver innovative, effective and timely product designs that are compliant with the Product Management design briefs and cost targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product management and operations, to execute on the development of new products (New Product Design) and the enhancement / maintenance of existing products (Sustaining engineering).
- Provide daily management support in terms of resource allocation, scheduling, progressing and problem solving for assigned / identified engineering projects.
- Be the Engineering subject matter expert to whom the business will defer on all mattersregarding product design.
- Keep the Engineering function current with appropriate deployment of the very latest engineering philosophies, tools and processes.
- Represent Business unit on all product development programs and initiatives developed by the Molex Corporate Design engineering organization.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or equivalent science degree.
- Demonstrated experience in Product Design & Development (knowledge of complete Product Development process).
- Demonstrated Experience in leading and building teams.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain collaboration, smooth teamwork, and communication.
- Knowledge of GD&T (advanced levels), tolerance studies, statistical analysis, FEA & DFMEA.
- Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA) Experience.
Who Will Put You Ahead
- Experience designing products with Plastic, PCB and Plated components.
- Working Knowledge of Siemens NX, solid works or similar plus experience in working with FEA and advanced prototyping tools.
- Experience working in a data networking product environment
