Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Outage Planner to support our Toledo Pulp and Paper mill maintenance team in Toledo, OR. This position will report to the Outage Manager and is responsible for providing support in the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance outages/shutdowns for the facility. This position will work closely with area operations and maintenance supervision including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and engineering to provide effective planning, scheduling, execution, and review of large maintenance and operational outages.
In addition, this role will also be responsible for supporting routine maintenance shutdowns for facility paper machines and annual outages for facility boilers. This individual could also teach and mentor others to raise the overall quality and effectiveness of work order planning.
Our Team
Georgia-Pacific Toledo is a producer of brown paper used to make cardboard and is a leader in recycling in the Northwest. The Toledo Mill is located within a 10-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean. Many outdoor activities are available near the mill including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and boating.
What You Will Do
- Support Outage steering team.
- Help develop the outage coordination plan (T-365 plan to prepare for outages).
- Achieve safety and environmental performance goals for the outages.
- Administer the scope collection to include a well-managed cutoff date and Scope Freeze that allows adequate time for detailed planning
- Help establish a set of planning guidelines and metrics through which the planners, execution team coordinators, and business leaders may best implement during the turnaround outage.
- Drive a singular integrated schedule for the outages.
- Oversee the implementation of a quality contracted work package process.
- Provide regular updates on outage planning progress to steering team.
- Create an accurate cost estimate for pre-approval and final approval spending authorizations for the complete outage scope.
- Vet all submittals after the Scope Freeze date with the Steering Team. Utilize established risk matrix to ensure no unnecessary work is added.
- Build a robust Quality of Work program to deliver an event-free, one-time start-up.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 1+ years of executing outages/turnarounds in a petrochemical, power or industrial manufacturing facility
- Demonstrated knowledge and capability in maintenance planning and scheduling
- Demonstrated capability using a CMMS system
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, specifically MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Project and MS Excel
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related Program
- Extensive knowledge of outage/turnaround work & execution for all craft types utilized in a heavy industrial facility
- Knowledge of procurement, contracts, and engineering associated with Outages/Turnarounds
- Specific knowledge of CMMS and scheduling applications (MS Project)
