We are looking for a Welding Engineer/PQM to join Koch Glitsch in Aprilia (Italy).
What You Will Do
We are seeking a specialist to oversee all welding, NDT and quality control related activities for the KES Aprilia factory. This role combines hands-on welding work and Project Quality activities with higher-level administrative and technical responsibilities. This person will be responsible for managing welding procedures, supervising the welding team including providing consulting services, coordinating multiple projects, and overseeing the welding procedure. As Quality Project Manager, he will take care to review quality specification and prepare Inspection Test Plan and all related project quality documents.
- Work closely with the engineering and production department to ensure product compliance with the customer's purchase order.
- Perform daily checks in the workshop of the various manufacturing processes (in particular welding but also painting, assembly).
- Carry out checks throughout manufacturing (dimensional control, Ferrite, hardness tests).
- Carry out the checks before / after sending to subcontracting (painting / pickling / passivation).
- Develop & manage welding procedures & processes (WPS/PQR) including all associated laboratory destructive testing.
- Qualify, monitor & maintain welder`s certification (WPQ)
- Define & prepare welding book to each project & product.
- Ensure that welding machine & tools are calibrated & well maintained.
- Collaborate with the other KES factories globally to improve our welding capabilities & performances.
- Provide training, coaching to production & quality personnel to meet welding requirements and drive opportunity of continuous improvement.
- Responsible to approve the welding consumable selection and to ensure the control of welding consumable storage & handling accordance with manufacturers' recommendations.
- Develop & manage NDT procedures & processes.
- Responsible for all quality aspects of assigned projects, determine and define quality requirements, maintain and completion of project records.
- Actively collaborate to resolve any issue involving Project Non-Conformances and warranties on commodities manufactured inhouse factory or supplier works.
- Define & manage Project quality budget.
- Prepare Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) defining the extent of quality control inspection and criteria to be used for each major item or commodity of a project.
- Travel as necessary to properly support all quality activities for assigned projects in relation to KO/PIM meetings, supplier development, inspections, training of inspectors and project specific concerns.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- IWT or equivalent
- Extensive experience in welding department and Quality department
- Knowledge of international Codes as ASME, GB, AWS, ISO etc
- Knowledge of ISO quality management system, Principles, Quality tools like 5why, Fishbone, FTA etc.
- Certification in Non destructive testing (ASNT-II) Like PT,MT,RT,UT,VT etc.
- Experience in fabrication, welding & control for steel structure, sheet metal, pipes. International Certifications in welding (like CWSIP or AWS or CWI etc.) will be considered a plus.
