Flint Hills Resources is seeking to hire a contribution-motivated individuals for Health and Safety Specialist roles that will support multiple locations within the FHR Pipelines and Terminals business.
Texas: One (1) role will office at the Austin or Waco FHR Terminals.
What You Will Do
- Providing field safety support of operations, maintenance, and contractors
- Assist with the development of health and safety training and provide instruction to FHR employees
- Participate in site risk assessments to share knowledge and build capability throughout the organization.
- Participate in learning events to identify opportunities that focus on lessons learned to improve our capacity to fail safely.
- Conduct incident investigations.
- Assist in integrating and maintaining core safe work practices such as confined space entry, lockout/tagout, safe work permitting, hot work, excavation, and blinding.
- Coach and mentor employees to facilitate ownership of safety at all levels of the organization.
- Serve as the health and safety subject matter person in support of the management of change process.
- Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Serve as VPP Coordinator for assigned sites
- Compliance program owner responsible and accountable for the successful application of varied compliance programs, and specific business assets, with a focus on value-added results achieved.
- Serve in a safety officer capacity during emergency response events
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Willing to travel up to 50%. In addition, this role will be on call for emergency response.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of Operations experience in petrochemical or pipeline industries OR three (3) or more years in a health and safety role in the petrochemical or pipeline industries
- Experience using and applying effective safety management systems.
- Ability to provide instructor-led health and safety training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver’s license
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience and working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 1926 and 1904
- Associate degree or higher in health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related health and safety field
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent certification

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
