Our Alabama River Cellulose facility in Perdue Hill, AL is currently seeking an Instrumentation Engineer. The Instrumentation Engineer will provide planning, procurement, and documentation activities for the enhancement of instrumentation maintenance within the facility. You will work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and resolve issues, optimize processes, and enhance the overall reliability of our equipment.

Since 1978, the Alabama River Cellulose (ARC) mill has been a major part of the economic lifeblood of the region. Recognized as one of the largest pulp operations in North America, the mill is also considered the largest manufacturer in Monroe County and one of the largest employers in the area.
What You Will Do
- Support maintenance teams with troubleshooting and/or installations.
- Share knowledge and help develop mill E&I technicians for maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs, instrumentation, and controls.
- Support operations areas to improve efficiency and equipment uptime.
- Provide assistance to our mill project engineering group.
- Conduct and/or lead root cause failure analysis following events.
- Help track KPIs (key performance indicators) in support of safe and reliable functions of instrumentation equipment.
- Interface with vendors to maintain and adjust mill equipment needs.
- Review, develop and or modify work orders for all equipment mill-wide and enter into the facility maintenance system.
- Assist the Reliability group as a subject matter expert in the reliability centered instrumentation strategies and assist with implementing those strategies.
- Participating in activities related to safety, risk assessment and safety incident investigations related to instrumentation equipment.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience working with electrical and electronic systems, with a basic understanding of instrumentation principles.
- Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Knowledge of programming systems with the ability to learn control systems.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining various instrumentation devices and control systems.
- Knowledge/experience with reliability improvement tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs.)
- Pulp and Paper industry experience
