Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our Neenah Technical Center (NTC) in Neenah, WI. This opportunity is within our Device Development Group. You will work with cross functional teams to solve challenging problems with innovative solutions to develop new products and improve existing product designs. We are looking for a creative Mechanical Engineer to work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacturing. In this role you will have direct influence shaping the evolution of the products of our business-to-business brands, Dixie®, enMotion®, Brawny®, Compact®, and Pacific Blue Ultra®.
Our Team
NTC is the central site for research, development, and lab services for Georgia-Pacific’s North American Consumer Products business. The devices development group is responsible for supporting the design and development of the devices that are used for our consumer products.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team comprising business leaders, project engineers, electrical and test engineers, quality managers, and designers
- Design complex parts and assemblies, primarily injection molded, plastic parts
- Design, development, and on-going support of electro-mechanical devices from concept through end of life
- Provide technical leadership of design for manufacturing of outsourced manufacturing
- Create product validation and verification plans to ensure requirements are met
- Develop and utilize 3D CAD models, FMEA's, tolerance analysis, FEA, DOE's, simulated use testing, and statistical analysis to support product design
- Generate SolidWorks drawings as required
- Create full documentation packages and manage release process into company documentation system
- Create and manage all aspects of mechanical BOMs
- Take ownership of development tasks and drive them to completion in a timely manner
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering field
- 5 or more years of experience working in product design engineering
What Will Put You Ahead
- Mechanical design experience generating 3D CAD and 2D drawings in SolidWorks
- Root cause analysis experience
- Plastic part design for injection molding
- Design for high volume manufacturing
- Sheet metal design
- Consumer products design experience
- Experience working with international contract manufacturers
