Mechanical Engineer (Utilities)
Georgia-Pacific’s Dixie® products manufacturing facility located in Darlington, South Carolina has an opening for an Utilities / Facilities Engineer reporting directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager of the Darlington facility. The Utility Systems Manufacturing Engineer role is primarily accountable for the performance and capability of utilities systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure at Darlington. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a business-owner mindset, be a problem solver, and have a passion for working with and through others to ensure the performance and reliability of facility infrastructure and equipment.

The Darlington Dixie® plant has been in operation for nearly 85 years and is one of the largest employers in Darlington County. Owned by Georgia-Pacific, the site boasts more than 400 employees and produces plates, bowls, and other tableware products. For nearly a century, we've created products that make lives easier. What You Will Do
- Develop and implement comprehensive asset strategies for all assigned assets.
- Plan and prioritize work requests for facilities: identify job hazards, materials, and permit requirements; plan work for internal facilities crew, coordinate contracted maintenance services, participate in priority and planning meetings, outage coordination meetings, and schedule review meetings; review all executed jobs for accuracy and identify gaps or opportunities for improvement
- Develop Precision Maintenance documentation for internal and external labor.
- Lead trouble shooting efforts on utilities and facilities related equipment.
- Work closely with technicians to identify knowledge gaps and provide support in developing the facilities team.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment working as an engineer, planner, or technician. (Transferrable experience in the military may be considered, in lieu of direct manufacturing experience.)
- One (1) or more years’ experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Experience with utilities equipment & systems set-up, operation, and/or repair. (i.e., HVAC, water / waste treatment, cooling tower, fire suppression, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Project)
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
- Experience working with SAP.
- Experience as a maintenance planner and/or maintenance engineer
- Experience working in a converting plant.
